National Research Data Catalog
The single point of access for discovering research data generated in Spanish universities and research centers.
What is the National Catalogue?
It is the national inventory of datasets resulting from research conducted in Spanish universities and research centers.
The catalogue collects and standardizes metadata from multiple repositories (institutional, thematic, Dataverse, Zenodo, etc.) and enriches them with persistent identifiers (DOI for datasets, ORCID for authors, ROR for institutions).
It is aligned with the FAIR principles and with European infrastructures such as EOSC and OpenAIRE. It exposes its information through open standards (for example, OAI-PMH) and interoperable semantic models.
Main Features
Unified Advanced Search
Search for datasets by keywords, author, institution, ROR code, ORCID, publication year, discipline, or type of data.
Visualizations and Filters
Dynamic filters, histograms, timelines, and charts that help you understand the production of research data by thematic area or institution.
Detailed Dataset Page
Each dataset has a landing page with a description, complete metadata, usage README, links to projects, publications, and authors.
Open Access to Metadata
The catalog offers a public API and supports harvesting/delivery in open standards, enabling integration with other systems and the European ecosystem.
Immediate Reuse
Download open-access data or request access where restrictions apply; data is served in interoperable formats.
Who can use the Catalog?
Citizens / Unregistered user
They can explore public datasets without logging in (citizen science). They can download open files and access their structured metadata.
Research staff / Data analysts
They can use the faceted search API to automate large-scale queries, gather thematic subsets, or perform comparative analytics between institutions.
What will you be able to do from here?
Quickly find out whether a dataset already exists and in which repository it is published.
See who the author is (ORCID), which institution supports it (ROR), and under what access conditions it can be reused.
Explore the global impact of open data production in Spain.
Download the dataset or connect to its source repository.
Integration with the PLATICA ecosystem
Links to Data Management Plans
Each dataset can be linked to its corresponding DMP, when the researcher has associated it in the DMP module.
Feeds the Open Science Monitor.
The Catalog provides data to the Monitor, showing the volume and types of open data by institution and discipline.
